You might watch this video and not understand what's really going on here. What this video actually shows is how consummate of a basketball player Mr. Yao really is.
The NBA is full of inferior players, yet Yao still gives them a
chance from time to time. He holds back on purpose because it would be
too easy for him to just unleash the full fury of his devastating
skill, like a child stomping on ants, and it would be much too scary for the rest of the NBA...if not the world. Like a
holy yet loving God among lowly sinners, Yao Ming descends to their
level and holds back his power in order that they may experience fame
at the cost of his humiliation. Sounds kinda like a great exchange to me.
Indeed, the world would be a better place if we could all imitate Yao Ming's great humility.
Anyway, on a more serious note (my comments on Yao being nothing short of a serious note as well), 2006's been a quite a year. I'm thankful for all the things that have happened at GRX this past year: - Last quarter's Seed small group - I met some great people, opened up to some of them, and had lots of fun playing Speed Scrabble...whoda thunk? - This quarter's Seed small group - Lotsa new faces, more great people, in-depth Bible studies, and hopefully future Halo parties, and I guess we can try Speed Scrabble again. - Kenya Mission Trip - amazing, eye-opening, and unforgettable experience. Loved the team. - Kidzone - encouraging to see so many ppl commit for 1 year. In The Zone and KZAM too. - Unstoppable Campaign - God's working through people's steps of faith. (And I got a promotion/raise at work the day after I pledged to the campaign! Eerie.......but very cool.) - New friends - Sunday sports, bowling - New apartment, and of course, the roommate who came with the apartment.
